“I don’t work directly with Mike but my colleagues and I see him on campus all the time and he is the most positive, polite, and caring person. He is always saying hi to everyone, picking up litter when he sees something on the ground, and saying the most positive comments to people walking by. We need more positivity like this on campus!” — Anonymous

“I encountered a big problem when the Library went through some database changes. My entire Lynda.com account and professional development history was lost (I was in the middle of a four-hour software training). I tried troubleshooting on my own and reaching out to Lynda.com and was told to go visit my library administrator. It was suggested I reach out to Stacy (and I am so glad I did). She was persistent, kind, and proactive in communicating during the two to three weeks it took to resolve my issue. Particularly during moments when it looked like my account history would not be recovered. Stacy was great at putting information together from Lynda.com and their engineers in order to troubleshoot and find a solution. My account history was recovered and made available to me. Thank you Stacy for embodying the quote in your email signature, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not. – The Lorax, Dr. Seuss.” — Ravneet Tiwana

“Joni is responsible for registration, grades and reinstatement. Joni does all these well, efficiently and shows great customer service. Joni also goes beyond these responsibilities; she will help you with other items as well for the success of the students. Joni’s great knowledge of the process has made my job (and I am certain many other faculty and staff) more productive — she is always quick in getting back to you (less than 24 hour) and makes the corrections/changes promptly. I am one in hundreds and thousands of people she provides service to — it’s truly amazing. SJSU should be thankful that we have someone in this position that is so critical to students, faculty and staff.” — Lilly Wildeman

“Tom dedicated the entire summer of 2017 supporting our incoming frosh with Early Start courses. He spent the 2016-17 academic year planning for summer programs by creating curriculum, hiring faculty, training faculty, collaborating with partners programs and offices all over campus. Tom putt systems in place to ensure that students were placed properly and then moved into the appropriate courses in Fall 2017. He answered thousands of emails from students and their families. Last week he spent several nights until 4 or 5 AM clearing students’ remedial status so that they could enroll in classes this fall.

His commitment to SJSU and its students is commendable.” — Thalia Anagnos

“Dana has the rare capacity to switch from addressing and steering community, fellow faculty, and staff with the “same” genuine, effective listening and professionalism. This is expected of faculty, but Prof. Albrecht is consistent at a higher level. Dana does not vary from the standard of excellence, she holds herself and others accountable while leading as an example.” — Anonymous

Spartans Stepping Beyond for the Bursar’s Office

“I am writing to thank you for your assistance this week with helping the Bursar’s Office issue ID cards to our students. We were swamped with students on Monday with very long lines waiting to receive their student ID cards. Fortunately, by Tuesday, we had figured out a system to give students appointments so that we could regulate the lines into more manageable segments, which is continuing into next week. I was overwhelmed with your generosity to just pitch in at a moment’s notice and do what needed to be done to help us out, despite the fact that you had your own responsibilities and jobs to do. It was a true show of spirit and willingness to step in and help out no matter what – a totally Spartan thing to do. It makes me so proud to work with such outstanding colleagues, which is why I love working here. Thank you so much. We could not have done it without you.” — Jennifer Kraskouskas

“My daughter was ill and I had to stay home and take care of her for part of the day. However, we had some important training that day.
